This 1850’s “Roussel’s Ambrosial Shaving Cream” Pot Lid was made for the famous Philadelphia, PA perfumer Eugene Roussel. The cream colored lid measures 3″ OD. Roussel moved to the 114 Chestnut Street address in 1842. This lid is very early, since the dome on the lid is almost flat. This lid is the transition of the business to  X. Bazin as stated on the lower part of the lid. The lid  has a purple transfer and appears not to have been dug, as there is no crazing lines on either side .
